But Price actually revealed in the build up to the match that he was suffering a nasty ear problem.

He told the Daily Record: “It feels like I have been in a swimming pool of water. It’s frustrating.

“I pop my ears and it feels fine. It’s a nightmare, It’s doing my head in. I’ve been taking antibiotics for a week and they are not working.

“It feels like I have been in a swimming pool of water. It’s frustrating. I pop my ears and it feels fine. Two minutes later, I have to do it again.

“It’s hard work. I have had this problem for the last six, seven, eight years, I am used to it now.”

Price, 39, has booked doctors appointments but has been forced to cancel them amid his hectic darts schedule.

He added: “I’m supposed to see an Ear, Throat and Nose specialist, but it’s too busy, isn’t it?

“I miss so many appointments with the ENT. You end up having a tournament here and there. I end up playing darts.”
