74-year-old OKC woman dead after single-vehicle crash near Okarche

OKARCHE, Okla. (KFOR) — A 74-year-old Oklahoma City woman died Thursday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash along Oklahoma Highway 3 and 192nd Street near Okarche.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, just before 3:20 p.m. Thursday, 74-year-old Veronica Higgins was traveling west on Oklahoma Highway 3 before her vehicle drove off the road and struck a tree before coming to a stop in a nearby creek.

Authorities say the cause of the crash was due to a medical incident, as Higgins was "apparently ill."

Higgins was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
