Travis County DA José Garza sworn in for second term in office
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Travis County District Attorney José Garza was sworn in for his second term in office Thursday morning at the 450th District Court by Judge Brad Urrutia, according to a news release from Travis County.
Garza will continue to "stand with crime survivors, lead on gun violence prevention and deliver fair and equal justice," per the release.
After Garza was projected to win back in November, he told KXAN his office would continue to try to reduce violence in the community and treat sexual assault survivors with respect.
Last month, Garza unveiled a remembrance space honoring the courage of sexual assault survivors, which was made into a mosaic piece by the community.
"When we listen to the people, partner with the community, and defend everyone's right to be safe, regardless of income, race, or walk of life, we ensure that justice belongs to all in Travis County," Garza said.
