Which subway line had the most delays in 2024?
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Of all the city’s subway lines, one train crawled the slowest in 2024.
The B train, which runs from the Bronx to Brighton Beach, was New York City’s most delayed in 2024, according to MTA data from January to November.
The on-time performance of the B train was, on average, 64% in 2024, representing the number of daily trips that arrived at the line’s last stop within five minutes of schedule, according to MTA. Trains that were canceled or skipped stops were also considered not on time.
It's far below the systemwide average of 82% on-time delivery.
Things were particularly bleak in September when an average of 52% of B trains were on time.
Straphangers spent, on average, one minute and four seconds longer than scheduled on the B train, data show.
The B train was not alone in its slow roll. The C and F trains also topped the list of New York City’s slowest lines, averaging 69% and 70% on-time delivery respectively, according to the MTA.
Across the subway system, the number one cause for delays was planned work, followed by police stops and medical issues.
Some changes are coming to the B line in 2025, including accessibility improvements to the Church Avenue station that will adjust the line’s route.
