Team USA Olympic Medalist Tased by Police in Wild Arrest Video

Fred Kerley, the Team USA sprinter who brought home the bronze medal in the men's 100-meter dash at the Paris Olympics last summer, has been arrested in south Florida after a tense confrontation with police.

According to CBS News and the Miami Beach Police Department, officers were working in "an active police scene" the night of Jan. 2 when they were approached by Kerley, whom they noted had "an aggressive demeanor" after the runner "was concerned about his vehicle that was parked in the area of the scene."

Body camera footage showed police officers putting their hands on Kerley before wrestling him to the ground. "Stop resisting!" one officer said to Kerley as he was pinned to the ground, to which the 29-year-old athlete said "I'm not resisting; get off of me, bro."

His girlfriend, Cleo Rahman, repeatedly pleaded with officers to stop. "He didn't do anything!" she told officers at one point, explaining, "We were walking to our car! Our car is right there!"

Finally, as Kerley attempted to walk away from the scene, an officer tased the two-time Olympic medalist with a stun gun, sending him to the ground.

Kerley was arrested and charged with battery of a police officer and resisting an officer without violence. Rahman, who witnessed the altercation, was similarly charged with resisting an officer without violence. Kerley appeared in court Jan. 3 and the judge didn't find probable cause for a charge of disorderly conduct or breach of the police, leading to his release from jail on his own recognizance.
