Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) was stabbed by his brothers – Matty (Harry Lowbridge) and Logan (Seamus McGoff).

The pair attacked their sibling – who has a tumultuous history on the Street – using a zombie knife.

Kate Brooks, producer of Coronation Street said: “It’s vitally important to shine a light on this topic, and really show the impact knife crime has on not only the victim and their loved ones, but also the wider community.

“With the alarming statistics, we want to do anything we can as a show to combat this violent endemic.

“After watching this harrowing, but important story unfold, if one person thinks twice about bringing a knife to a fight, then we’ve achieved our aim to raise awareness.”

Meanwhile, Lisa (Vicky Myers) showed Mason photographs taken at the scene of her late partner Becky’s death.

She revealed how his brothers were behind the murder – leaving Mason determined to take down Matty and Logan.

Upon searching their flat, he discovered a Second World War helmet – matched to the one listed in Becky’s case file.

Mason handed this in to the police station.

But after Kit (Jacob Roberts ) questioned the pair, they were intent on vicious revenge against their brother.

During the altercation at the children’s play area, Dylan (Liam McCheyne) managed to escape.

First on the scene was Abi Webster (Sally Carman), who found Mason bleeding.

She attempted to stop the blood flow before the ambulance arrived.

To ensure the storyline’s accuracy and sensitivity, Coronation Street have been working closely with The Ben Kinsella Trust.

The knife crime prevention charity was formed in 2008, following 16-year-old Ben Kinsella’s murder.

Patrick Green, CEO of The Ben Kinsella Trust, said: “This impactful Coronation Street storyline vividly highlights the devastating consequences of knife crime.

“We applaud the show for their commitment to working closely with us to accurately depict this reality.

“This storyline aims to raise public awareness of the dangers of knife crime.

“Furthermore, we hope it will encourage viewers to seek help and support before situations escalate, ultimately contributing to the prevention of knife violence.”

Mason Radcliffe's Coronation Street journey so far

The troublesome Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) first arrived in Weatherfield in September 2023.

During his time in Coronation Street so far, Mason relentlessly bullied Liam Connor Jr (Charlie Wrenshall) – its extent prompting Liam to consider suicide.

He also intimidated Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) into doing his bidding, such as stealing and selling vapes.

Mason was found guilty for a knife offence in mid-2024, ultimately being released by that July.

He has since tried to turn over a new leaf, finding mentors in Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine).

But trouble still follows Mason – thanks to his violent brothers Matty (Harry Lowbridge) and Logan (Seamus McGoff).

Luca Toolan, who plays Mason, also reflected on the story’s impact.

He said: “I truly am honoured to be a part of this storyline.

“I’ve always enjoyed Coronation Street as a viewer, but I completely underestimated the power that it has on its audience until I was involved in the bullying storyline.

“Fingers crossed this storyline will be received the way we are hoping it will be and ultimately, if one person drops a knife and someone is saved, that would definitely make it all worth it.”

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
