TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – Jan 4th & 5th

Hi and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women, Royston Town Reserves and Royston Town Vets.

First up, Royston Town 1st Team are on the road to Leicestershire when they take on Barwell FC in the Southern League Premier Central Division, on Saturday, 3 pm kick-off. Royston Town FC enjoyed a festive season picking up wins against St Ives Town away and AFC Sudbury at home and a draw against Leiston on New Year’s Day. At the same time, Barwell only managed to pick up a point against Harborough Town with Barwell being 2-0 up as well but lost away to Lowestoft 1-0 and Hitchin 2-0 both away during the festive season. Royston also beat Barwell in the opening game of the league season with a 3-2 scoreline with Ed Afasu-Adjaye, Ben Weyman and Joshua Dawadou scoring for us while Brady Hickey scored a brace. All the fixtures this weekend are the sides teams faced in the opening weekend.

Refreshments and a Bar will be open inside the ground but the clubhouse is down the road as it shares with the bowls and cricket ground.

We will have a coach running to the game which departs at 10:30 am from King James Way Town Hall Car Park.

 

Next up, Royston Town Women are back in league action after a few weeks away and our first home game since Sunday 3rd November, Royston Town Women host Wroxham Women in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, Sunday, 2 pm kick-off. Royston Town Women are hoping to take more advantage after Luton have to play cup action still with their last game of 2024 being called off. Royston won 5-1 at Enfield Town Ladies to put themselves 9 points clear although Luton have 3 games in hand over the Crows. Royston Town also beat Wroxham 3-0 away in the league with Neve Mayes, Emma Slater and Jordanne Sillitoe scoring for the Crows.

Next up, Royston Town Reserves host Raunds Town in the Spartan South Midlands Division One, on Saturday, 3 pm kick-off. This will be our 3rd meeting between the sides with Royston Town Reserves losing 1-0 at home back in April last season however they managed to beat them 4-2 away from home back in October 2023 with Danny Baulk getting a brace and a goal each from Josh Darby and Kian Harness.

80p for an hour / 90p for 2 hours / £1.20 for 3 hours / £3.50 for more than 3 hours. After 3pm parking is free.

Last Up, Royston Town Vets are back in league action after a few weeks away, and they travel to Old Salvatorians Vets in the Herts Vets Super League Premier League, Sunday, 10:30 am kick-off. Royston beat Old Salvatorians 8-1 in the league earlier in the season.
