'He is out': Ruben Amorim confirms another United star will miss Liverpool clash after Marcus

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed another absentee ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow.

The Red Devils have had a dismal Premier League season. They have accumulated just 22 points from 19 games. The club need a big turnaround to qualify for European football.

Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Merseyside, Amorim has revealed another absentee.

Marcus Rashford has already been sidelined with illness, and speaking to MUTV, the manager added that Jonny Evans won’t be part of the squad for the North-West derby.

Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are recovering from respective injuries.

He said: “No, I think Rashford is ill. Jonny is out. I think the rest – Vic is almost there and Luke also. But they are out. The others, I think, are fit.”

The Red Devils had a poor end to 2024 with five defeats from their last six league outings. They have dropped to 14th in the table on the back of a poor run.

United face a massive challenge against Arne Slot’s side on the road tomorrow. The club must be defensively strong to get something out of the game.

They played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Anfield last season and need a similar performance.

Evans is not a regular starter, but his aerial presence could be missed during the back end of the game if the club are holding onto a point or an advantage.
