Nights spent on footpaths
Manoj Singh, famously known as “Gold Man,” has a story that could rival a Bollywood movie. Originally from a small village, Kutlu, in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, he carved a name for himself in the big city of Mumbai. Faced with financial struggles at home, he moved to Mumbai at the age of 18 in search of work. In the early days, he had to do manual labor, carry goods, and spend several nights on the pavement. However, Manoj never gave up, and through hard work and determination, he achieved great success.
Started transport business in 2010
While working in a transport company in Mumbai, Manoj gained valuable insight into the logistics sector. This experience led him to start his own transport business in 2010. Initially, his work involved small-scale goods transportation between Mumbai and Rajkot. Through hard work and dedication, his business gradually grew. Today, Manoj owns over 100 trucks and employs more than 500 people. He is now considered one of the leading industrialists in Maharashtra.
Entry into politics
Thakur Manoj Singh has always remained connected to his roots. He is a well-known figure among the approximately 1.5 million Jharkhandi residents living in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. In 2014, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and proposed the establishment of a Jharkhand cell within the Maharashtra BJP, which was accepted. On January 7, 2021, the Jharkhand cell was formed, and Manoj Singh was appointed as its president. As the president of the BJP’s Jharkhand cell, Manoj has worked hard to unite the people of Jharkhand in Maharashtra. He organizes several events each year through the Jharkhand cell, where prominent BJP leaders from Jharkhand also participate. Manoj Singh considers Jharkhand his birthplace and Maharashtra his workplace.
How he got the name ‘Gold Man’
Thakur Manoj Singh earned the nickname “Gold Man” because of his love for gold jewelry. He is often seen wearing heavy gold jewelry at public events. Recently, at a BJP event in Ranchi to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he wore so much gold that it caught everyone’s attention. This incident brought him back into the limelight. Manoj Singh’s life serves as an inspiration for those who never give up despite facing difficulties.
