A NEW train dubbed the “easyJet of railways” will connect two popular European countries this year – and tickets cost just €10.
The Dutch rail company, GoVolta, has pledged at least 110 will be under a tenner.
Should someone nab a ticket for under €10, that’s about the cost of a pint in London.
The service will connect Amsterdam and Berlin, GoVolta has revealed.
Trains will leave early in the morning and arrive late afternoon.
However, the journey time will be slightly longer as GoVolta trains are not super-speed.
Instead of a six-hour journey, which can be achieved with German carrier, Deutsche Ban, GoVolta’s service will take around eight-hours.
But this comes with a cheaper cost.
The founders of GoVolta, Hessel Winkelman and Maarten Bastian, have described the rail company as the “easyJet of the rails”.
This is because the rail services are set to be budget-friendly, unlike some other routes operating around Europe.
Standard second-class seats on the debut route start at just €10, making it cheaper than any other options.
Tickets from Amsterdam to Berlin, depending on type and class usually range from €37.90 to €257.
On top of this, GoVolta hopes to create connections between Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Basel.
All of which will launch in 2025 but Berlin will come first in September.
Tickets are set to drop in January 2025.
GoVolta also revealed it doesn’t have any trains yet, but has released a sketch of the livery to be used.
It comes as the Dutch company was due to launch the service from Amsterdam to Paris, Berlin and Base in 2024.
However, the new date is set for this year.
