Masked Singer stuns fans as identity of Giant Joel is revealed as sport legend
THE Masked Singer has finally revealed the identity of Giant Joel.
Tonight’s series opener unmasked Sir Mo Farah as the star posing as host Joel Dommett’s doppelganger.
“It’s been incredible,” Mo said about his time on the show.
“Have you got padding in your bum?” laughed Davina McCall, as Mo stuck out his butt.
Speaking about his reason for signing up, he told The After Mask host Harriet Rose: “I’ve got four kids, I couldn’t tell my kids they wouldn’t believe me! One thing they asked me, ‘Dad you can’t dance, you can’t sing, please don’t embarrass us!’ “
Asked about getting into character, Mo added: “Joel is a big character; he has that positive energy, even the way he holds the mic. But then I couldn’t sing!!”
Mo then joined the panel – including his namesake Mo Gilligan, Davina, new addition Maya Jama and Jonathan Ross – as a guest judge for the rest of the episode.
And the track superstar jokingly branded his fellow Mo ‘Slow Mo’.
Giant Joel’s identity has been teased since the end of the Christmas special, which aired on Boxing Day.
Joel was left open-mouthed when the hilarious lookalike walked out at the end of the seasonal episode.
Viewers have had to wait for over a week to find out the identity of the mysterious figure.
Joel and his spitting image appeared on a series of shows including This Morning and GMB to promote the mystery.
Mo Gilligan guessed it was Mark Wright, while Davina and Maya went for Ant and Dec.
But it was Jonathan who got it right, by guessing it was the Olympic legend.
Seconds after Jonathan’s guess, the long distance runner removed the mask and showed his face to the screaming audience.
Fans were quick to react on social media.
One screamed on X: “I knew giant Joel was Mo Farah! His voice is so distinctive. I bet it’s the only one I get right all series!”
A second added: I love Mo Farah – but please stick to running! He has just murdered a Lionel Rich Tea classic.”
On Good Morning Britain earlier this week, Adil Ray also correctly guessed Giant Joel’s identity.
Kate’s co-host Adil Ray, 50, asked if there was a connection to the ITV reality show, they said no.
Adil – who came under fire from GMB fans for his comments on darts ace Luke Littler, 17, on Thursday – took a stab and suggested it was Sir Mo.
And instead of using their yes or no foam hand which Giant Joel had been using to answer questions, the character simply gave a shrug.
