Police arrest OAP, 80, on suspicion of murder of man in his 70s who died after being found seriously injured in flat

COPS have arrested an OAP, 80, on suspicion of murder after a man was found with serious injuries at a flat and later died.

Officers were called to a property on Silverdale Close, in Aylesbury, at 4.20pm yesterday as paramedics battled to save the victim, a man in his seventies.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of emergency services.

Thames Valley Police arrested an 80-year-old man, from Aylesbury, on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody at this time.

Cops are not looking for anyone else in connection with the victim’s death.

It is understood the two men were known to each other.

A police cordon will remain in place while investigations continue, the force said.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Firstly, I would like to wish my condolences to the family of the man who sadly died following this incident.

“We have launched a murder investigation and I recognise the concern this will cause in the local community.

“However, we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and two parties are known to each other.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this incident and a scene will remain on for some time while our investigation is ongoing, we would apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

“We are confident that there is no wider risk to the community at this time, and I would urge anybody who has any concerns to please speak to any of our officers at the scene.
