Liverpool ‘offer Trent Alexander-Arnold eye-watering wages and five-year contract’ to snub Real Madrid transfer

Real Madrid are free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Alexander-Arnold, 26, with the transfer window being open.

However, Liverpool is determined to keep hold of the England international.

The Mirror have claimed that Alexander-Arnold has been offered a five-year contract worth £78million to stay at Anfield.

This financial package works to £300,000-per-week, which would make him one of the best-paid players in the Premier League.

It is believed that the deal is of a similar value to that of the one being offered by Real.

But the Spanish side would also be able to put forward a huge signing on free should Alexander-Arnold sign on a free transfer.

The report has added that Alexander-Arnold has not made any demands regarding the club captaincy.

He is viewed as the natural successor to Virgil van Dijk when the defender leaves the club.

It has been claimed that Real want to sign Alexander-Arnold this month and would be willing to pay up to £20million.

This fee could be offered despite Alexander-Arnold becoming a free agent if his contract expires.

Liverpool will be firmly against letting the star leave in January, with the club battling for the Premier League title.

Arne Slot‘s side is sitting pretty at the top of the table with a five-point and two-game advantage over second-placed Arsenal.

Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion has also boosted the Anfield side’s title hopes, with the gap between the two now

Alexander-Arnold has insisted that he will be keeping his thoughts to himself until a decision is made.

He said: “I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public – and this one won’t be either.”

Supporters of the club have been left convinced that he is leaving after Calvin Ramsay was recalled from his loan spell at Wigan.
