Tottenham sign Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague

Tottenham Hotspur announced their first signing of the January transfer window on Sunday morning as Antonin Kinsky joined the North London club’s goalkeeping ranks.

The Lilywhites did look at other options ahead of the winter window but decided that the former Slavia Prague star was the perfect man to bolster Ange Postecoglou‘s ranks.

With Guglielmo Vicario still out injured and Fraser Forster struggling with illness, Kinsky could well be an important figure in training over the next week or so.

Antonin Kinsky – Expert review from Jiri Josek

With few Tottenham supporters regularly tuning in to watch Slavia Prague, we decided to talk to an expert in Czech footballers to find out more about Antonin Kinsky.

Czech journalist and CANAL+ Sport reporter Jiri Hosek exclusively told SpursWeb about Kinsky: “I remember talking to Slavia’s manager Jindrich Trpisovsky in 2019 and already back then he treated Kinsky as a generational talent, as someone who is quite exceptional at the age of 16.

“Always with his father Antonin Kinsky, former Czech international, behind as his mentor, he always looked beyond the horizon. In fact, quite a few people think, he is too ambitious and lacks humility, but so far he has always delivered. Based on that, I genuinely believe, that he is not even thinking of not becoming Spurs number one.

“He is remarkably good with his feet, he upgraded Slavia’s playing from the back to another dimension. At the same time, he is more than a decent shot-stopper. On or two mistakes in between, but he makes good decisions and always stays committed.

“Kinsky was coached at Slavia by Radek Černý, former Spurs goalie, who surely recommended Tottenham as the next destination.”

Will he make his Tottenham debut this month?

With Guglielmo Vicario out for the foreseeable future, Antonin Kinsky could find himself in immediate and direct competition with Fraser Forster at Tottenham over the coming weeks.

On the one hand, Forster has far more experience in the Premier League – and in his career in general. On the other hand, Tottenham will see Kinsky as an investment for the future, with Forster likely to leave N17 when his contract runs out this summer.

As such, we expect Kinsky to make his debut over the coming weeks, with one eye on Tamworth in the FA Cup on January 12.
