The full back has played just 45 minutes of football this season, a second half appearance in a cup game against Barrow.
In total, he has since amassed a total of nine goals and 12 assists in 107 appearances.
Chilwell, 28, has won the Champions League, Super Cup, FA Cup and League Cup since making the £50million switch from Leicester.
But his career at Chelsea appears over when he was part of the ‘bomb squad’, told earlier this season by Maresca that they have no future at Stamford Bridge.
He has two years left on his Blues contract and the club may have to offer a huge severance deal or heavily subsidise a loan to get him off the books.
But with the winter window now open, can a deal be struck to allow the defender a chance to reset?

Who could Ben Chilwell sign for?
Bookmakers talkSPORT BET believe a move abroad could be on the cards for Chilwell.
Italy looks the favoured option as it stands, with Chilwell 3/1 to sign for any Serie A team in this window.
While any La Liga club in Spain taking him on is a 6/1 chance.
Sandwiched between the two is an interesting shout, with West Ham a 5/1 chance to swoop for him.
The Hammers have already been linked with a left-back in this window in Kieran Tierney, though he appears likely to move back north of the border.
While staying in London could be a huge appeal to Chilwell, too.
A spot at left wing-back appears to suit the Euro 2020 finalist, so might a move into Ruben Amorim’s set-up be perfect?
Manchester United are 6/1 to make their move, having been linked with Chilwell for several years.
It’s then 12/1 for a move to Brentford, Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga, while Newcastle and a return to Leicester are both unlikely at 14/1.
