2 students stabbed outside Albany school career center

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Two students were stabbed outside the Abrookin Career and Technical Center Monday morning, police confirm. A 16-year-old male faces multiple charges.

Around 11:55 a.m., Albany Police officers responded to the Abrookin school for reports of an assault. Once on scene, police reportedly found a 15-year-old male with a stab wound to his calf and a 16-year-old male with a stab wound to his bicep.

Police said an initial investigation determined the two were outside the school when another student, a 16-year-old male approached them. Police determined the three knew each other and began fighting before the suspect reportedly stabbed them.

The two students who were assaulted suffered non-life-threatening wounds and were transported to Albany Medical Center for further treatment. Police said the suspect fled in a car and was found by officers near Green and Westerlo Streets shortly after.

The 16-year-old suspect was charged with one count of assault in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. He was arraigned in Albany Family Court later that day and released to Probation supervision.

Both Albany High School and the Abrookin Center both briefly went into a lockout after the incident. School officials say they are cooperating with the investigation.
