Playing out the negotiations more or less in public is undignified for everyone.
I'm not sure about Lopetegui. He seems to have done an okish job in terms of points. They are on for a bit less than the 52 they got last season, but more than the 40 of the season before.
He hasn't transformed them, but hasn't made them awful.
One of the problems is that their big Summer buy Fullkrug is not that good and has missed most of the season. Plus Bowen is out at the moment and Antonio is out for the foreseeable future.
They've got a similar squad (too similar) to the last few seasons and are doing about the same. It's difficult to see quite what they expected - apart from the success of Forest on Everton's budgets.
