MUG Debuts Root Beer DNA Test Kit for You and Your Dog

MUG Root Beer is offering fans a “new and absurd way to start the New Year” with their introduction of an at-home DNA test, according to a press release. But this isn’t just any run-of-the-mill DNA test kit.

MUG’s Dawg DNA Kit plays off of the popularity of at-home DNA tests as well as the viral “having that dawg in you” sensation. For those unfamiliar, “having that dawg in you” applies to persons (typically athletes) who are mentally tough and can perform in extreme situations; it’s also MUG’s slogan. The Dawg DNA Kit allows MUG fans to determine their “dawg status,” which ranges from 30 percent to a “rare” score of 110 percent.

Each of the kits comes with a can of MUG Root Beer; a “dog drool dropper” for collecting the saliva sample; and test cards. In order to determine your dawg results, you just have to “sip the provided MUG, collect a saliva sample, and drop it onto the pre-supplied test for their official DNA results.”

In a clever twist, MUG is also including in each of the kits a separate Dog DNA kit for actual canines (up to $90 value), allowing you and your dog to compare respective dawg scores. The first 200 fans who purchase two 10-packs of MUG’s brand-new Mini Cans will receive an exclusive code to download a free Dog DNA Kit.
