Pamela Anderson Was Almost 'Killed' After Case of Mistaken Identity

Pamela Anderson is looking back on a tense plane confrontation where she says she was almost "killed" after being mistaken for another celebrity.

On Jan. 6, The Last Showgirl star appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and reminisced on being mistaken for a member of hit country band The Chicks, formerly known as The Dixie Chicks. At the time, the band wasn't well-liked by many Americans who were upset about their speaking out against the Iraq War

"This one time, I was on a flight and this guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you know what this country’s done for you?' And I was like, ‘Oh, my God. What have I done?'" she recounted. "And then I looked back at him and he’d [growl]. This stewardess had to handcuff him to the chair because he was trying to attack me."

She later found out the truth. "It [turned out] he thought I was a Dixie Chick. Remember that whole Dixie Chick thing?" she said. "I almost got killed on a plane!”

"That's minor," she added. "I was scared to fly after that a little bit."

In 2003, The Chicks came under fire for speaking out against the United States' impending invasion of Iraq and then-President George W. Bush. During a concert in the U.K., lead singer Natalie Maines told the audience "We do not want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." They were subsequently blacklisted by many country music stations and received death threats for their comments, as well as criticism from other country artists.
