Uber Is Giving Some Teens Free Rides for a Month, Here’s How to Qualify

Uber is offering certain teenagers free rides for a month in an effort to give exhausted parents a reprieve from shuttling their kids around town.

The ride-share company announced on Jan. 9 that teenagers who’ve recently failed their driving test can sign up through their Uber Teens Account to earn a month of free rides. Uber is launching the promotion in order to relieve some anxiety for students with busy schedules who didn’t pass their license exam, not to mention their parents who often act as unpaid Uber drivers.

The free rides deal can be accessed by teens aged 13 to 17 as long as they have a legal guardian’s consent. Uber’s teen accounts notify the adult account holder whenever their child orders a ride and are able to follow the trip in real time from pick-up to drop off. Uber also offers onboarding with its teen accounts to educate youngsters about the various safety features available to them within the app.

You can register to obtain your free month of rides by downloading the Uber app or visiting its website. Teenagers will have to fill out a survey regarding their drivers test, including providing information about the questions they answered incorrectly and why. Although the service promises a month of free rides, the promotion tops out at six rides for the entire month with a maximum price of $20 per ride. Unfortunately, California is excluded from the promotion.
