Florida deputy busted for lying about shocking reason he caused a car crash
A Florida sheriff's deputy has resigned from his position after wrecking into a civilian's vehicle while viewing pornography on his cell phone.
Lake County deputy Tristan Macomber was driving his patrol vehicle southbound Nov. 6 on a road in Sorrento when he crashed into another vehicle that was stopped for a school bus, and an investigation found that he lied about the cause of the crash, reported WFLA-TV.
Macomber initially claimed the brakes on his patrol vehicle "locked up," adding the anti-lock braking system (ABS) was displayed because the speedometer had just been calibrated, but an internal investigator reviewed body camera footage that showed him picking up his cell phone a minute before the crash.

The deputy claimed he was looking at text messages from his colleagues, but body camera footage showed that also was not the case.
Macomber eventually admitted during an interview with the Office of Professional Standards that he was looking at “inappropriate pictures,” which he later clarified to be pornographic material, on his personal phone.
The sheriff's office determined Macomber had violated general orders about giving truthful testimony, as well as not wearing a seat belt, and he resigned rather than face termination.
It's not clear whether the other driver was injured, but body camera footage shows that person getting out of their vehicle and reporting they were unharmed.
