UCC comes into force in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand becomes the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code. The UCC portal, launched by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, enables online registration of marriages, divorce, and live-in relationships. The law applies to all residents except Scheduled Tribes and certain protected communities. This fulfills BJP's election promise ahead of the 2022 polls.
