Grandpa Killed At McDonald's While Family Waited Outside
An innocent grandfather was reportedly killed in an awful tragedy at McDonald's.
A grandfather, described as being "crazy for his grandkids," has been killed in an awful tragedy inside of the popular fast food restaurant. The 61-year-old grandfather was reportedly killed after getting caught in a shootout inside of the restaurant.
Jorge Arbaiza, a Texas native, was killed inside of a Houston-area McDonald's earlier this month. The grandfather was killed while buying some Happy Meals for his grandchildren, as his family waited outside, according to a statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
A gunfight between two groups of men had broken out while Arbaiza was waiting for his food.
The grandfather's wife was in the car with the grandchildren while the shooting broke out. Teresa, his wife of nearly 40 years, spoke to KHOU 11 about the tragedy. She said that she couldn't leave the children in the car.
"I couldn't leave the kids alone. I could not go inside," Teresa told KHOU 11. "The kids were crying, and they were scared."
The grandfather had some simple last words.
"I’m dying. I’m going to die," the grandfather told his wife.
Stuart Brown, the owner and operator of the Houston McDonald's, released a statement to Fox News Digital.
"We are deeply saddened by this senseless violence that led to a tragic loss of life," he told Fox News Digital in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, and we are assisting the local police department in any way that we can."
Ed Gonzalez, the Harris County Sheriff, released a statement, as well.
"Sad update: the innocent bystander, Jorge Arbaiza (61), succumbed to his injuries sustained during the shooting and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Senseless. Multiple shots were fired while the business was full of customers, including several children," he announced.
"Detectives have located a suspect vehicle and several persons involved in the altercation. A male that was involved in the altercation was wounded by gunfire but survived.
"The shooters have not yet been identified. The follow-up investigation continues."
