2 Dead in Shooting Near Iconic Las Vegas Fountain

Gunfire erupted Sunday night near the iconic Bellagio fountains, leaving two people dead.

According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, officers were on a routine patrol at approximately 10:40 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard when they heard gunfire coming from the west side of the street.

Police say officers raced to that direction and located two individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the shooting victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

"At this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident, and a possible suspect has been identified," police said in a statement. "It is believed that the suspect and the victims knew each other and had previously engaged in conflict over social media prior to the shooting."

Video shared on social media showed the moment a calvary of police squads raced to the scene, leaving tourists stunned as the scene unfolded.

You can hear chaos, screams and even one person saying, "Wow, it must have been in front of Bellagio."

According to the New York Post, the shooting was captured during a livestream on the strip, with scenes showing people dropping to the ground and taking cover after a man appeared to open fire in a crowded area.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section.
