Ryan Murphy Makes Telling Comment About ‘American Horror Story’ Season 13
Ryan Murphy shared an update on the status of American Horror Story for Season 13—and he did a little namedropping. On June 13, the showrunner answered a fan question after he posted a sneak peek of his upcoming FX series American Love Story.
In the comment section to Murphy’s Instagram post, a fan asked, “Ryan are we getting AHS13 this year? Or not in 2025?”
Murphy responded with, “Sarah Paulson and I are cooking up something cool!”
While Murphy’s mention of Paulson’s involvement is great news for longtime AHS fans, it’s a change from what he last said about the next installment of the long-running anthology series. In October, Murphy teased to The Hollywood Reporter that two AHS veterans could be back for the next season.
When asked, “When is the next season of American Horror Story coming?,” Murphy replied, “You know, that’s an interesting question. I was talking to Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters about that the other day, so maybe sooner than you think.”
Murphy also previously mentioned the potential return of Peters in an interview with The Wrap last fall. After admitting to the outlet that he would like to continue producing the show for “a long time,” he added, “Now I’m excited that Sarah is interested in it again, I’m excited that Evan — in the right part — would be interested."
Paulson and Peters are two of the biggest names from the AHS franchise, but they’ve been missing from the last few seasons of the show. Both stars have appeared in nine seasons of the FX series, and were only missing from AHS: 1984 (Season 9), AHS: NYC (Season 11), and AHS: Delicate (Season 12). Both Paulson and Peters last appeared in Season 10, AHS: Double Feature in 2021.
Peters previously told GQ he needed a break from the “emotionally draining” AHS franchise after playing a series of freaky and sinister characters. “I don't like to yell and scream,” he told the outlet in 2018. “I actually hate it. I think it's disgusting and really awful, and it's been a challenge for me. Horror Story sort of demanded that of me.”
