Airport Shuttle Company, Eight Black Airport Shuttle, Suddenly Closes

Airport shuttle services can make traveling so much easier or, if they don't work out so well, difficult. Technically, an airport shuttle service is a way "going from the airport to your accommodations and back again for business purposes or for a vacation," Blue Sky Limo explains. They add, "These services frequently have set routes and schedules, and passengers can purchase tickets in advance."

It would be quite an inconvenience for travelers to learn that the shuttle they were counting on is no longer in service.

Now, a popular airport shuttle company has suddenly and unexpectedly closed. The big question is, where does this leave travelers?

On June 13, Colorado-based Eight Black Airport Shuttle posted a message on its official website saying the company would close its doors that day, leaving some customers without a way to and from the airport.

"With a heavy heart, we've made the decision to shut down," Eight Black Airport Shuttle shared on its website, adding that "this is a hard message to write."

The message, which was also shared on social media, goes on to state, "Like many transportation companies, we've been hit hard by a perfect storm a significant increase in insurance premiums, rising airport and regulatory fees, and steep capital costs. In the shared ride model, where affordability matters most, we simply can’t raise prices enough to cover those costs while still offering the frequency and schedule that our customers expect."

In the message, they also seem to be reaching out to interested parties in taking over the business, stating, "Know a hero? Sometimes, a white knight appears. If you or someone you know has interest in supporting or acquiring this piece of local transportation infrastructure, we're open to a conversation." They give the email address whiteknight@eightblack.com for inquiries.

As for refunds, the company has shared a refund request form on its website for customers to submit documentation to Eight Black Airport Shuttle for a potential refund. Clients should fill in the required information for consideration for a refund.
