‘Only one permanent member…’: India’s World cup-winner speaks about Harshit Rana’s inclusion for Australia ODIs

After the discussion about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future in ODI cricket settled, with both the players being named in the squad for the upcoming 3 One-Day matches in Australia, pacer Harshit Rana being included in the squad left many people surprised.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee left out likes of Mohammed Shami, Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, etc. in the 15-man squad, but Harshit somehow secured a place. However, Rana’s inclusion might make him one of the few players who become an integral part of India’s plans.

Speaking about Harshit Rana being selected for the ODI series against Australia, India’s 1993 World Cup-winner Krishnamachari Srikkanth did not cut down his words as he praised the pacer being selected and credited his selection to his relationship with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

“Best is to be like Harshit Rana and be a constant yes-man to Gambhir to be selected. There is only one permanent member – Harshit Rana. Nobody knows why he is there in the team. You don’t pick some irrespective if they do well and take others even if they don’t. Best is to be like Harshit Rana and be a constant yes-man to Gambhir to be selected,” Srikkanth said on his Cheeky Cheeka YouTube channel.
