RBI proposes new infrastructure risk weights for NBFCs

India's central bank has proposed revised risk-weight guidelines for infrastructure loans offered by non-banking financial companies. These new rules aim to lower capital requirements for lenders financing established projects by linking risk weights to project performance and repayment history. The draft rules, open for public comment, are set to take effect from April 1, 2026.
