Nearly 8,000 schools in India employ 20,000 teachers despite zero enrolment; West Bengal, Telangana lead

Thousands of Indian schools have zero students this academic year. Over 20,000 teachers are employed in these schools. West Bengal leads with the most zero-enrollment schools and teachers. Other states like Telangana and Madhya Pradesh also report such schools. The Ministry of Education urges states to address this for better resource use.
