Queen’s Park v Raith Rovers – match preview

Queen's Park v Raith Rovers - match preview

RAITH ROVERS visit The city Stadium this weekend for what will be Queen’s Park’s first Remembrance weekend match at The city Stadium.

Sean Crighton’s side met the Kirkcaldy club on the opening day of the season where it was a tale of two penalties at Starks Park.

Michael Ruth gave the Spiders the lead and then a late penalty award against Tyrece McDonnell gave the home side a spot-kick opportunity to level, which they took.

Since that positive start, Rovers have moved around the mid-table and play-off positions while Queen’s Park find themselves ninth.

Saturday will be a gauge of how far the teams have come since the William Hill Championship kick-off at the beginning of August.

A minute’s silence will be observed ahead of kick-off.

Looking ahead

Sean Crighton’s head coach previews are sponsored by Glasgow Clyde College.

The head coach, and assistant Jim Duffy, are sponsored by PTS Clean this season.

Sponsorship packages with Seb Drozd are still available.

Contact kieran@queensparkfc.co.uk or call 0141 632 1275 to sponsor the forward’s home kit, away strip or new black third top.

The Season so far...

Sean Crighton does not have his selection problems to seek as he picks a Spiders side for the visit of the Fife club.

Charlie Fox led the team out the last time the teams met but the vice-captain’s well-publicised injury at Partick Thistle rules him out of the fixture and for the forseeable future.

Added to the central defender, Zach Mauchin and Michael Ruth will also be missing from the starting XI through injury, while Henry Fieldson is still suspended following his red card against Ayr United.

For Raith Rovers boss Barry Robson, his side have one win in their last five and will be without injured defender Callum Fordyce while Lewis Stevenson and Shaun Byrne both picked up knocks in last week’s draw with Morton.

Supporters' Info

As part of the club’s Remembrance weekend match there will be a wreath-laying procession ahead of kick-off. Spectators are asked to be in the ground and at their seats to observe the minute’s silence.

This week’s edition of ‘Inside The Web’ is now available to view .

Bar 1867 will be open to both sets of fans with a valid match ticket pre and post-match. The venue overlooks the pitch and will close at 2.45pm to allow enough time for guests to make their way to the seating area.

Supporters are reminded limited car parking is available outside The city Stadium. A whisky-tasting event at the National Stadium will also mean Hampden’s blue and yellow car parks could be busier than usual. Supporters using neighbouring streets are asked to consider local residents and businesses if parking on-street.

Howden 50-50 tickets will be on sale from reps around The city Stadium until the start of the second half, priced £1. The winning ticket number will be announced in the 67th minute.
Congratulations to QPFC member Pat Gallagher who won the draw against Ayr!
