Surfable for the early

Hello Friends,

Wind was coming from the NNE at 10-13 kts when I did my usual Saturday morning radio report surf check. As you can see from the snaps, there were little NE wind bumps to be had at the better exposures. The period is only 7 seconds, so they were pretty gutless. Definitely the day for your floatiest wave toy. While the wind’s going to get into the 20 kt range later, the swell build as the day goes along. We have a bonkers 2 metre high tide at just before 1100, so maybe not entirely helpful at some of the places currently showing a wave.
The good news is that by tomorrow afternoon we should see the leading edge of a fresh 2, building to 3-metre south pulse. Sunday’s early sesh could be a bigger version of today’s, but by close of play the south wind will be doing its thing as the south magnets light up.
Currently the pulse is expected to be solid on Monday morning, but fading slightly across the day. Wind should be S-SW though, and that ought to make for some fun, solid conditions at the south magnets during the late morning (albeit with a swampy high tide).

Beyond that, Tuesday is looking like a smaller version of Monday and then Wednesday the models are showing another pulse back into the 2 metre range from the south with a 9-ish second period and light SW wind. Could be the highlight of the week. Beyond that, it’s looking like 1-1.5 metres of more-or-less south swell with morning W-SW breezes and sunny skies.

Not bad for November.

Go well everyone!

Weather Situation

North to northeasterly winds are freshening ahead of a cold front and its associated trough that will move across the coastal waters during the weekend, bringing a fresh and gusty south to southwesterly wind change in its wake. Winds will briefly turn east to northeasterly early next week as another high pressure ridge drifts across the state, then the next cold front will move across the coast on Tuesday through early Wednesday next week, with another southerly wind change after its passage.
