Prep football

The Redwood Empire Conference is set to vote on a proposal next week that would see scheduled re-alignment in the four football divisions. The four-tiered league was put together prior to the 2024 season with the idea to shuffle the teams based on competitive equity every two seasons.

The current proposal, set to be voted on next Thursday, would see American Canyon and St. Vincent de Paul move into the top-tier Adobe Division while Vintage and Rancho Cotate would move down into the second-tier Valley Division.

Ukiah and Maria Carrillo would move up into the Valley while Napa and Tam move down into the third-tier Bay Division. Sonoma Valley and San Rafael would move up into the Bay, while Justin-Siena slides down into the fourth-tier Mountain Division.

Marin Catholic and San Marin (Adobe), Redwood (Valley), plus Terra Linda, Archie Williams and Novato (Mountain) would all remain put.

  • Branson School quarterback Colby Buxton was named co-offensive MVP — along with Stuart Hall’s Maxon Craig — for the North Central League II. Branson’s Spencer Weinberg, Luke O’Connell, and Remy DeJean were named to the all-league team. Trevor Mathews was selected as an honorable mention.
