Eric Dane Announces New Memoir Titled 'Book of Days; A Memoir in Moments' Amid ALS Battle
Eric Dane is gearing up to release his memoir.
On Monday (December 8), it was announced that the 53-year-old Euphoria actor will be releasing his memoir titled Book of Days; A Memoir in Moments through Maria Shriver’s Penguin Random House publishing imprint, The Open Field.
News of the forthcoming book comes eight months after Eric publicly revealed that he has diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Keep reading to find out more…According to a press release, published by People, the memoir will reflect on the days of Eric‘s life “have meant the most, including when his daughters [Billie and Georgia] were born, his first day on set on Grey’s Anatomy, the moment he decided to get sober, the day he received his ALS diagnosis, and that hopeful day in the future when ALS is finally cured.”
The book invites readers to “consider their own time and how, amidst the noise and chaos of everyday life, we can learn to celebrate the days that matter the most.”
Also in the press release, Eric said that writing the memoir about using every good and bad moment to inspire others to live life to the fullest.
“I wake up every morning, and I’m immediately reminded that this is real — this illness, this challenge and that’s exactly why I’m writing this book,” the Grey’s Anatomy alum shared.
“I want to capture the moments that shaped me — the beautiful days, the hard ones, the ones I never took for granted — so that if nothing else, people who read it will remember what it means to live with heart,” he continued. “If sharing this helps someone find meaning in their own days, then my story is worth telling.”
Late last month, Eric played a firefighter who was also battling ALS on an episode of the NBC medical drama Brilliant Minds. After the episode aired, Eric revealed the most challenging part of the role.
