More on "Best Medicine', 'Memory of a Killer'
Based on the British medical dramaDoc Martin, Best Medicine stars Josh Charles, who plays Dr. Martin Best, the focal point of the show.
According to the FOX press release, via The Futon Critic, Charles' character is "a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child."
"Unfortunately, Martin's blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, and he quickly alienates the town, even though he's all they've got," the show description reads. "Although Martin can expertly address any medical ailment or mystery in this idiosyncratic town, he's really just desperate to be left the hell alone. Instead, he keeps getting dragged right smack into the middle of their personal chaos, feuds and fantasies. What the locals don't know is that Martin's terse demeanor masks a debilitating new phobia and childhood trauma that prevent him from experiencing true intimacy with anyone."
Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts, Josh Segarra and Cree Cicchino also star.
Memory of a Killer will mark Patrick Dempsey's return to television and also features the acclaimed Michael Imperioli and Gina Torres. The show is inspired by the book and 2003 Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer.
Dempsey plays Angelo Ledda, a hitman with early onset Alzheimer’s. Ledda, who is also a photocopier salesman and father in his everyday life, must solve the mystery of his wife's death, balance his two worlds and keep his personal health secret, all at the same time.
