Sydney Sweeney Addresses Plastic Surgery Rumours After ‘MAGA’ Makeover Controversy

Sydney Sweeney is addressing the ongoing rumors that she had plastic surgery after speculation ramped up following a viral moment where her appearance was compared to a “MAGA look”.

The Christy star has repeatedly made headlines in recent months, particularly for the backlash over her controversial American Eagle “good jeans/genes” campaign in July.

During the fallout over the campaign, Donald Trump and the White House backed the star amid the criticism, and Sydney was subsequently outed as an alleged registered Republican shortly after. 

In a recent interview with Allure, Sydney and her co-star, Amanda Seyfried, were asked to “debunk” a “beauty rumor.” 

Sydney jumped at the opportunity to insist that she has never gone under the knife, quickly blurting out: “Let’s debunk them all.” 

“I have never gotten work done,” she insisted, telling the Mamma Mia! star: “I am so scared of needles. You have no idea.”

The Euphoria actor went on to scoff at the social media users who she said compared her before and after photos online to theorise over what procedures she might have undergone. 

“You guys, you cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting,” she explained. “Of course I’m going to look different.”

Taking another swipe at her critics, Sydney added: “Everybody on social media is insane.”

Following this, the White Lotus alum argued that if she had gotten work done, her “face would be even” before claiming to Amanda that one of her eyelids supposedly “opens a little more than the other” due to a childhood wakeboarding accident.

Ahead of her chat with Allure, Sydney said in an October interview with Variety that she was told altering her appearance was the only way she was going to “make it” in Hollywood. 

“I have very strong eyebrow muscles,” she told the outlet. “And I had someone tell me to fix my face, or else I’m not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16!”
