Why We Love This Deal
Inbound snowstorms have been trending in the news almost everywhere this week, with multiple states on guard for Arctic blasts and at least one still under a blizzard warning. Whether or not your locale is going to be affected, one thing is clear: it pays to be prepared. Aside from the necessary winter gloves, winter jackets, shovels, and snow blower, now is the time to think about backup power sources. Thankfully, Walmart just knocked its bestselling gas generator down by more than $600.
The Nexpow 3500W Dual-Fuel Portable Generator is just $397, $653 less than its $1,050 list price. It's the middle of the three available models, and collectively, they've earned over 200 five-star ratings for their ease of use and efficiency. We've seen other models in this series sell out in a matter of days when they go on sale, and with the weather hitting, that may happen again, so grab the one you need ASAP.

This is a dual-fuel generator, meaning it can run on gasoline and propane, with the latter pumping out electricity at only 300 fewer watts. It uses premium copper wiring to conduct the electricity produced by the 154-cc 4-stroke OHV single-cylinder engine that’s the heart of the machine. It also has a muffler, fuel filter, air filtration system, and forced air cooling system, all the necessary pieces to ensure it’s as pleasant and safe to run as possible.
Inputs include a 30A socket, a 20A socket, USB ports, and a parallel port alongside a robust set of indicators and displays to let you know how it’s functioning at any given moment. The whole package is just over 20 inches on its longest side and weighs a hair over 55 pounds. It’s not exactly tiny, but it’s certainly small enough to pack into the car if needed.
Crucially, because this only runs off gas and propane, you can't use this inside. Instead, what you would want to do is link it up to an extension cord and run that into your home. If you want something to use indoors, we'd recommend EF EcoFlow's 1800W Delta 3 portable power station (on sale for $519) or Jackery's 2035W Explorer 2000 (on sale for $849) instead. Both are fully electric and indoor-safe, and they can even recharge with a solar panel.

What Owners Are Saying
For a gas generator at this price, shoppers have been pretty impressed. “The generator purrs like a kitten and is very quiet. It runs like a champ,” wrote one. They added that it was “super easy to start” and, despite the lack of a fuel gauge, “I'm very happy that I bought it and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again.”
Another customer wrote, “It runs great and is pretty quiet. It adjusts to added loads smoothly and consistently.” Functionally, they said, “the economy mode seems to work just as well as the normal mode,” and “the digital readout is great for assuring the machine is functioning correctly.”
Walmart has previously sold out of each version of the Nexpow 3500W Portable Generator when they've gone on sale in the past, so it seems like a matter of when, not if, this one will join them, and a 62% discount certainly won’t slow sales down. That’s why we’d recommend picking one up today and enjoying the peace of mind that comes with being prepared for a power outage.
