Paige Shiver: Police 'Rushed' to House of Sherrone Moore's Executive Assistant, Reports Say
Former University of Michigan Head Coach Sherrone Moore's career spectacularly exploded on December 10-11. He was fired, arrested, jailed, and now new accusations have emerged that involve Paige Shiver, his executive assistant.
The circumstances that led to the 39-year-old married coach's arrest are becoming clearer. To be clear, though, Moore has not yet commented on any of this publicly, and he has not been criminally charged with anything. But the details emerging are disturbing. Moore is still being held in a Michigan jail on December 11. Shiver's name started trending on December 10, even though any link to Moore - beyond working for him - was unverified. However, now, The New York Post is reporting that police were called "to the home of Moore’s staffer Paige Shiver after he allegedly went off the rails when he lost his $30 million job coaching the Wolverines," providing the first provable link between Shiver and the incident that landed Moore in jail.
Shiver is listed by Michigan Athletics as "Executive Assistant to the Head Coach," the position that Moore was in until December 10, when the university terminated him after alleging it had discovered credible evidence that he engaged in an "inappropriate" relationship with a university staffer. That staffer, however, was not named.
It's Still Not Clear Whether Paige Shiver Was the Alleged 'Victim,' Reports Say
It's important to sort out what's known about Shiver's link to any of this and what's unverified or just rumors floating around social media.
The Detroit News reported that Moore was allegedly "suicidal" and "wielding a knife" after he was fired by the school. "According to our victim here, he did put a knife to his throat and ran out," an officer said in audio, according to the Detroit newspaper. "They're also advising that when he left the location on their call he walked out with several knives."
But it's not clear whether Shiver is the victim or just whether the incident allegedly occurred at her residence.
The New York Post also alleged that Moore "was reported to be 'suicidal' and had a knife after he went to Shiver’s apartment following his firing."

He was previously investigated for an alleged relationship with a staffer but denied it, The Post reported. However, the identity of that staffer has not been verified, and authorities have provided almost no details of what led to Moore's arrest other than a statement from police confirming that a man was being investigated for an alleged assault.
The 911 call "came from Shiver’s Ann Arbor address, according to public records, though it was not immediately clear if she was the victim," The Post noted.
Daily Mail.com also named Shiver and said that police "rushed" to her home after the report of an alleged assault.
The Detroit News reported that a "Michigan football staff member's listed address matches the area to which police were dispatched," but did not name the staffer. A dispatcher said that a woman claimed Moore had stalked and attacked her and indicated his wife was worried he was suicidal after he lost his job.
TMZ first broke the story of the 911 call. The entertainment site also did not name Shiver, but similarly identified the home where the call o riginated as belonging to a University of Michigan staffer. "The employee -- who has worked for the Wolverines for years -- was the executive assistant to the head coach," TMZ reported.
Paige Shiver is the daughter of a veteran Chicago Bears scout who was profiled in a story by that team several years ago. She received a large salary increase while at U-M. You can read more about her background here:
