Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s unforgettable innings leads Team India Under-19 to a World record
India’s Under-19 team created history in their opening match against the UAE. The Indian team scored 433 runs for a loss of six wickets in 50 overs against the UAE in the first game of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025. Vaibhav Suryavanshi made another explosive debut in the match as he scored 171 runs in 95 balls with the help of nine fours and 14 sixes. With this innings, Suryavanshi created several records, while the Indian Under-19 team set a world record.
While batting first, the Indian team posted a mammoth total of 433 runs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Aaron George, and Vihaan Malhotra each contributed 69 runs. Vedant Trivedi scored 38, Abhigyan Kundu made an unbeaten 32, and Kanishk Chauhan contributed 28 runs.

India’s Under-19 team has scored a 400-plus score for the third time. Only the Indian team has achieved this feat of scoring 400-plus three times in Under-19 cricket. Previously, India scored 425 runs against Scotland in an 2004 edition. In 2022, the team scored 405 runs against Uganda.

This is also the third-highest total in Under-19 ODI cricket. Australia (480/6) holds the record for the highest total, while New Zealand (436/4) are second.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the second Indian player to score the highest individual score in Under-19 ODI cricket. He is surpassed only by Ambati Rayudu, who scored an unbeaten 177 against England in 2022. Vaibhav Suryavanshi surpassed Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal, who each held the record for scoring 160 runs. Raj Bawa also scored 162 runs. Furthermore, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the batsman with the most sixes in an innings in the Asia Youth/Under-19 Cup, surpassing Darvesh Rasooli of Afghanistan and Shahzaib Khan of Pakistan, who each hit 10 sixes.
