It was Rohit’s 37th century in List A cricket and made Mumbai’s chase a dawdle as they defeated minnows Sikkim by almost 20 overs to spare. Rohit put on 141 for the opening wicket with Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi and another 85 runs with Punjab Kings star Musheer Khan.
Rohit’s century included 8 sixes and 8 fours and ensure that Mumbai raced to their target in just 30.3 overs with 8 wickets to spare. The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) had planned for 3,000 people to turn up for the VHT 2025-26 match but instead 12,000 fans turned up and most of them cheering for Rohit Sharma at the ground.
Rohit’s 155 comes on a day when multiple List A records went down in the VHT 2025-26 tournament. He completed his 150 off 91 while Vaibhav Suryavanshi had smashed 150 off 59 balls earlier in the day.
The 38-year-old Mumbai opener also closed in on 14000 runs in List A format in his 351st match. Rohit now needs 87 more runs to reach the landmark.
Chants of ‘Mumbai Cha Raja Rohit Sharma’ rang around the entire Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Some fans started shouting, “Gambhir kidhar hai, dekh raha hai na?” (Gautam Gambhir, where are you, are you watching, right?)
It was Rohit’s second century in last five 50-over innings with his last ODI century coming up against Australia in Sydney. He also had scores of 75 and 57 against South Africa in a three-match ODI series.
Rohit will be next seen in action in three-match ODI series against New Zealand beginning in Vadodara on January 11.
