'Stranger Things' Creators Issue Major Warning to Fans

The second part of the final season of Netflix's hit show Stranger Things is set to hit the streaming service on Christmas Day. Ahead of that release, the show's creators have a bit of a warning for fans.

In a recent interview, Matt and Ross Duffer – the co-creators of Stranger Things – warned that fans can expect a "dark Christmas" when the show hits the streaming service on Thursday.

Stranger Things Part II Release

The highly-anticipated final season of the hit show is being rolled out in three parts, with the second part of the series hitting Netflix on Dec. 25 – Christmas Day.

The first four episodes of the show hit the streaming service on Thanksgiving, then the next three episodes are set to release on Christmas Day before a two-hour season finale hits the streaming service on Jan. 1 – New Year's Day.

Here is the full release schedule:

  • November 26: Season 5 Volume One: Episodes 1-4
  • December 25: Season 5 Volume Two: Episodes 5-7
  • January 1, 2026: Season 5 Volume Three: The two-hour finale.

Duffer Brothers Issue Warning

During a recent interview with AP Entertainment ahead of the debut of Volume Two, the Duffer brothers gave a bit of a warning to fans.

When asked how fans should prepare themselves ahead of the latest release, Ross Duffer warned viewers to "prepare for everything."

"The fun thing about Stranger Things is that it has a little bit of everything. It is sad at times, but also is joyful and it can be really funny and scary," Ross Duffer said during the interview. "So I guess just prepare for everything."

Matt Duffer, however, offered a bit more of a specific warning.

“A dark, dark Christmas, though, I would say," Matt said.

"Yeah, that’s right. Yeah, Dark Christmas and kind of an emotional New Year," Ross agreed.

So fans should keep that in mind as they prepare to watch the next installment of the final season.
