The author of the books that the series is adapted from, and a consulting producer on the show, recently spilled on the ending of the first season, addressing fan theories that it could end on a cliffhanger.

“Episode six is such a warm hug of an episode after all the angst. It’s very sweet, romantic, and funny,” Rachel told Elle India. “It’s really focused on Shane and Ilya, and I think it’s a beautiful way to end the season. And yes, there is a happy ending.”

“We didn’t know we were getting a second season, so we weren’t going to end on a cliffhanger,” she added while confirming the season will end on a good note.

The show’s creator Jacob Tierney has also addressed the season finale episode.

If you missed it, stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie revealed there will be “one difference” between the book ending and the show’s ending.
