Duan Jansen’s lethal bowling helps Faf du Plessis’ JSK spoil Sourav Ganguly’s SA20 debut

New Delhi: In the second match of SA20 Season 4, Joburg Super Kings delivered a stellar performance, defeating Pretoria Capitals by 22 runs. The hero of the match was Duan Jansen, who wreaked havoc with the ball and played a crucial role in securing his team’s first victory in Centurion. This match also marked a disappointing SA20 debut for Pretoria Capitals’ head coach, Sourav Ganguly.

Jansen’s Lethal Bowling

The bowlers dominated the match. Duan Jansen was exceptional, taking four crucial wickets while conceding only 23 runs in his spell. His accurate line and length completely dismantled the Capitals’ middle order, making the run chase extremely difficult.

Capitals Collapse After a Strong Start

Chasing a target of 169 runs, Pretoria Capitals got off to a good start. A 71-run opening partnership between Will Smeed (34) and Bryce Parsons (41) put the team in a strong position. At the 12-over mark, the score was 86/2, but things changed rapidly thereafter.

Janko Smit Turns the Tide

Young fast bowler Janko Smit turned the match around by taking the crucial wicket of Dewald Brevis. Following this setback, the Capitals’ batting order completely collapsed, losing five wickets for just 28 runs.

Rossouw–Mulder Partnership Builds a Strong Score

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Capitals inflicted early blows on the Super Kings. Faf du Plessis and Matt de Villiers were dismissed quickly. However, Rilee Rossouw (48) and Wiaan Mulder (43) then forged a crucial 78-run partnership to stabilize the innings. Late cameos from Akeal Hosein and Dayyaan Galiem helped the team reach a respectable total.
