Who is Jerrssis Wadia? India-born Australian smashes 6,6,6,4 in…, video goes viral

Adelaide Strikers found an exciting new talent in Jerssis Wadia during their ongoing Big Bash League season. Brought in as a local replacement for Alex Carey, Wadia impressed in just his second match, scoring a quick 34 runs from 16 balls on Saturday in Brisbane. Although the Strikers lost the match in the final over, they stayed competitive largely because of Wadia’s powerful hitting.

The 24-year-old is a bowling all-rounder who plays club cricket for Tea Tree Gully. He is a left-arm spinner but bowled only one over in the match. His biggest impact came with the bat, especially when the Strikers needed 60 runs from the last six overs. Wadia attacked Jack Wildermuth, hitting three sixes in a row along with a boundary to score 24 runs in that over. He was unable to finish the chase, but his short innings kept the Strikers in the game until the end.

Jerssis Wadia was born in India and played junior-level cricket for Baroda before later moving to Australia. The left-handed batter was part of the Adelaide Strikers’ academy and earned a place in the main team after Alex Carey joined the Australian squad for the Ashes.

After the match, Wadia met Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who was playing for the opposing side. The 24-year-old took a photo with the star bowler and later posted it on his social media pages.

Jerssis Wadia is the third cricketer of Indian background to play in the Big Bash League. Nikhil Chaudhary has built a strong reputation in Australian cricket since moving there and currently plays for the Hobart Hurricanes. Former India Under-19 captain Unmukt Chand has also played in the league for the Melbourne Renegades after changing his playing country to the United States.
