Revealed: Hojlund already has hefty release clause at Napoli

Rasmus Hojlund has been on impressive form for Napoli in recent weeks, and reports on Tuesday confirm that there will be a release clause in his contract if, or rather when his permanent transfer from Manchester United goes through.

Hojlund has nine goals and three assists from 20 appearances across all competitions to his name so far in 2025-26, and has already surpassed his league goal tally from last season.

His performances have drawn praise from coaches, fans and pundits alike, with Christian Vieri recently claiming that the Dane might be one of the top five centre-forwards in the world at the moment.

Hojlund is currently on loan from Manchester United in a deal that includes a €50m option to buy, which will become an obligation should Napoli qualify for next season’s Champions League.

As things stand, Napoli are in third place in an incredibly tight Serie A title race. There is also still a possibility that Serie A is awarded an additional spot in next season’s Champions League.

According to recent updates from Corriere dello Sport, if/when Hojlund’s permanent transfer to Napoli goes through, there will also be a release clause included in his deal. Tuesday’s report claims that this will be worth €85m and will become valid in the summer of 2027.
