Greer Grammer Reflects on the 'Meanest Thing' Her Dad Kelsey Grammer Said

Greer Grammer is reflecting on the “meanest thing” her dad Kelsey Grammer once said.

The 33-year-old actress was on a November episode of the Pretty Basic podcast when she got to talking about Kelsey and their former estrangement.

The Frasier star left Greer‘s mother Barrie Buckner when Greer was 4 years old and she didn’t really reconnect with her dad until she was 16.

Greer recounted a time when Kelsey told her mom that it “might be better” for her to not have her last name.

“It would be easier for you growing up,” Greer recalls him saying.

“I think I was like 19 when he told me that and I started sobbing, because to me that was like the meanest thing you could ever say to somebody, like… ‘I knew I wasn’t gonna be in your life, so I told my mom it would probably be easier for you to not have my last name,’” she shared.

However, the Awkward star admits that Kelsey wasn’t wrong and it was a “fair” assessment to make.

Greer also talked more about how she and her dad had finally reconnected during her teenage years.
