Tate McRae Talks Aftermath of The Kid LAROI Breakup & Writing Songs About Each Other

Tate McRae is opening up about her breakup with The Kid LAROI earlier this year.

The young couple split up over the summer after over a year together, and since have both released music seemingly about each other.

In a recently released interview, the “greedy” singer addressed their breakup and the reaction to it, as well as how she feels about them writing songs about each other.

“I had been traveling so much, and I felt like I was spreading myself thin, and I had no idea what was going on in my core,” she told Rolling Stone about her time touring in Europe after the breakup. “I was going through a lot emotionally.”

“It was really scary and overwhelming,” Tate added about the attention around the split. “I would never talk that way, even about my friends’ lives. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me, the public knowing my private life — because no one knows the full story of anything, ever. I also hate people painting a situation that’s worse than it is.”

“But what I’ve had to realize is that he’s going to write songs and I’m going to write songs, and that’s our way of expressing ourselves,” she continued. “That’s our art, that’s our job. And once it’s out there, it’s not mine anymore.”

Songs Tate has released this year that fans think are about The Kid LAROI include, “Tit for Tat,” “NOBODY’S GIRL,” and “Horseshoe.”
