Man Utd have big advantage over Leeds on Sunday which has Daniel Farke frustrated

Manchester United take on Leeds United in Sunday’s early Premier League kick-off at Elland Road.

The Red Devils face their old rivals for the first time in the league since February 2023, and ahead of the game, they have been handed a timely but big advantage.

United played out a frustrating 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night, and have been provided 110 hours to prepare for the Leeds game.

On the other hand, the Yorkshire outfit only faced Liverpool in a 5.30pm kick-off on Thursday, and they have a gap of just 65 hours before hosting the Red Devils.

With the shorter recovery time, Leeds manager Daniel Farke has already voiced his frustration.

In his pre-match presser, the German highlighted that United have been ‘on the sofa’ for the last two days and hinted at possible rotation for Sunday’s 12.30pm kick-off.

He said: “I hope they can recover quickly and we’ll see probably some late decisions for Sunday, when we have the earliest possible kick-off, straight after breakfast more or less, whyever this is after a late evening kick-off today.

“So Man United since two days already on the sofa, whatever. We will find solutions for this fixture and at Elland Road, even if the legs will be a bit tight, we also have a chance, and we’ll go for it again on Sunday.”

United must capitalise on extra recovery to beat Leeds

The Red Devils have had a frustrating season under manager Ruben Amorim. They have dropped points against clubs that they are usually expected to beat.

United have recently drawn at home against Wolves, Bournemouth and West Ham United, while also suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to 10-man Everton.

Based on this, Sunday’s game won’t be straightforward, but they must capitalise on the extra recovery period (45 hours) to come on top against their old rivals.

Leeds have picked up form recently with plenty of hard-fought draws, while also beating Chelsea.

United need to stamp their authority with a quick start at Elland Road, or Leeds could make things tough for them, as they did for Liverpool at Anfield yesterday.
