Patriots’ Potential Next Playoff Opponent Revealed After Bills-Broncos Thriller

The New England Patriots still need to win in their divisional round matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday.

It’ll be quite intriguing if they can take care of business, however…

New England is just one victory away from visiting the one-seed Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High in the 2026 AFC Championship Game, with the latter punching their ticket by defeating the Buffalo Bills in overtime on Saturday.

Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian made the play of the day, ripping the ball out of Bills wide receiver Brandin Cooks’ hands to get the ball back for his offense in overtime — preventing what would have been a game-winning field goal attempt.. Bo Nix then drove them down the field, with the help of two defensive pass interference calls, to set up the easy ender from kicker Will Lutz.

Denver barely escaped in its first game of the postseason, but they did, and are now just one game away from representing the AFC in Super Bowl LX. The Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears are still alive in the NFC.

The Patriots and Texans will fight for the right to advance on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The AFC Championship is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on CBS. The NFC Championship will take place on the same day, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
