Bo Nix's Reaction to Broken Ankle Revealed By Sean Payton as Quarterback Is Out for AFC Championship Game

Denver Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton delivered some shocking news after the Denver Broncos beat the Buffalo Bills during the NFL divisional round of the playoffs on Saturday night (January 17).

During the press conference after the game, Coach Payton shared that the team’s quarterback, Bo Nix, broke his ankle and is out for the rest of the season. He apparently broke his ankle towards the very end of the game, but did finish playing.

That means backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham will play in the AFC Championship one week from today (January 25), and if they win that game, he’d play in the Super Bowl too.

Coach Payton revealed Bo‘s reaction to this news.

“He’s such a strong, faith-based guy. He’s sitting in the hallway with his family and coming over and we’re all talking to him. He knows that God’s got a plan for him and he said he had [a broken ankle] in high school and then he said he had one at Auburn. And I said I didn’t realize that. I said if I had known that I wouldn’t have drafted you,” he joked.

After the game, Bo did not indicate he was hurt, but did say, “It’s great to have home-field advantage in a situation like this. It’s exciting. This is why you play the game, this is why you compete. You get to playoff football, and good things happen.”
