Von der Leyen warns Trump over Greenland tariffs
European leaders have delivered a warning to the United States after Donald Trump reaffirmed his intentions to pursue control of Greenland, threatening economic retaliation against eight European countries during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The US president declared there was “no going back” on the plan, stating Greenland was “imperative for national and world security” and claiming the territory must be acquired “by money or force”. His comments were followed by social media posts showing digitally generated images of him planting an American flag on Greenland, and screenshots of alleged private messages from world leaders.
